Fun Things to Do With Your Dog in Phoenix
Looking for things to do with your new canine companion in the Phoenix area? Phoenix offers five off-leash dog parks, all of which are fully fenced and have separate areas for small and large dogs. These dog parks are Echo Mountain Off Leash Arena at Grovers Basin, PETsMART Dog Park at Washington Park, RJ Dog Park at Pecos Park, Rose Mofford Sports Complex, and Steele Indian School Park.
Leashed dogs are also welcome to join you on the many hiking trails in and around Phoenix. Hike up Camelback Mountain, Deem Hills, Lookout Mountain, North Mountain, Shaw Butte, or South Mountain with your furry friends. Less strenuous pet friendly hiking locations are Papago Park and the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. Hikers with dogs are asked to respect the wildlife around them by keeping dogs on a leash at all times and picking up pet waste immediately.
If hiking is not your cup of tea, check out the Movie and a Dog Nights at Urban Beans. Once a month, Short Leash Dogs brings their hot dog food truck to the parking lot of Urban Beans and dog owners are welcome to sit on the patio and enjoy a hot dog and movie with their own leashed dogs. For baseball-loving humans and dogs, the Arizona Diamondbacks host a Bark in the Park game once a year, where leashed dogs are welcome to join the human fans at a baseball game. No matter your tastes, Phoenix offers many options for humans to enjoy time outside of the house with their dogs! For more ideas, visit the Dog Owner’s Guide to Phoenix on BringFido.com.
